KaHuna training is a specialised sacred form of healing and bodywork that is as yet largely unrecognised by the traditional western medical model. KaHuna training is not like certificate 4. It is much more. Our courses focus heavily on personal development and transformation to facilitate your healing skills as a practitioner. To begin with you can go home after Kahuna level 1-2 and start massaging. If you want to make massage therapy a journey or new career, we advise that you obtain membership of a massage or allied health association so you can get insurance coverage, and study anatomy and physiology, but to do KaHuna training, no requirements are needed. Just your wish to learn and grow.

Since the introduction of the National Training Package system and the amalgamation of many of the massage associations, the criteria for Massage association membership and insurance has changed. To obtain a provider number from most of the health insurance companies, the requirement is now a 2 year Diploma of Remedial Massage.

Yes, after completing 3 levels of the Hawaiian massage training you will be issued with a certificate and academic transcript noting your hours of training. There are 5 further levels of training offered, whereby you can extend your skills and growth as a practitioner. You will also receive a certificate after level 5, 6 and 7.

Yes you can. It is important to have membership of an association and indemnity insurance before massaging the public as this ensures your clients that you are professional and abide by ethical and respectful practices.

If a student withdraws or transfers from the course, the following refund policy applies:

• If the student withdraws 45 days or more prior to course commencement the student will receive a full refund of all monies paid, minus 20% of the course fee.

• If the student withdraws 30-44 days prior to the course commencement the student will receive 75% of the full course fee or any monies paid, minus 20% of the course fee.

• If the student withdraws 14-29 days prior to course commencement the student will receive 50% of the full course fee or any monies paid, minus 20% of the course fee.

• If the student withdraws 1-13 days prior to course commencement or withdraws after the course commences, the full course fee or any monies paid is non-refundable.

• If the student withdraws from a course the student has been transferred to, the full course fee or any monies paid is non-refundable.

• Any unforeseen transport or accommodation external to High Spirits Retreat, due to declared state emergencies such as, but not limited to, floods or fire will not be covered by Mette’s Institute.

Mette’s Institute offers an airport pick-up from Brisbane airport. Further information will be forwarded with the specific course information.

All meals served at High Spirits Retreat are vegetarian and vegans are also catered for. If you are on a specific diet (not including meat) we may be able to cater for this but please contact us to confirm prior to booking your course or retreat.

There are four beds in each room with it’s own shower and toilet facility. However, our courses and retreats offers relatively long days so not much time is spent in the rooms.

There is WIFI at the retreat and this may be used by students and guests, however we highly recommend that communication is kept at a minimum allowing you the best experience during your course or retreat.

We recommend that you allow your time at High Spirits Retreat to be undisturbed, however in case of emergency or other, High Spirits Retreat can be contacted on (07) 5485 4800 or 0407 651 600.

Courses and retreats require a minimum of 20% deposit to secure a space. This allows Mette’s Institute to control the number of students and guests attending courses and retreats. Deposits are generally non-transferable and non-refundable.

Many students attend two or more courses with only a few days in-between thus saving on travel expenses. Mettes’s Institute then offers students to stay at High Spirits Retreat in-between the courses for only $66/night
